General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited the Karachi Corps’ area of responsibility, receiving a detailed briefing on the Army’s operational preparedness and key training initiatives. During his visit, the COAS inaugurated the Innovista Indus IT Park, a significant project aimed at empowering Pakistan’s youth through academia-industry collaboration, particularly in the fields of Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Honourable Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, along with notable civil society members. In his address, the Chief Minister emphasised the critical role of the IT sector in harnessing the potential of Pakistan’s youth and driving economic growth. COAS General Asim Munir reiterated the Army’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for the IT industry, which he noted is already progressing at a commendable pace.
In addition to the IT Park inauguration, General Munir engaged with the business community in Karachi, acknowledging their vital contributions to the nation’s economic progress. The participants expressed their support for the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), praising its role in achieving positive economic indicators and fostering an environment conducive to further economic growth.
COAS Munir also lauded the efforts of the Federal and Provincial Governments for their unwavering support of economic initiatives. He took the opportunity to commend the strong partnerships with friendly nations, particularly China, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, for their role in Pakistan’s economic recovery through assistance in multiple sectors.
In a statement during his address, General Munir highlighted the immense potential Pakistan holds across various domains, urging the nation to maintain faith in the country’s bright future. He remarked that with the country’s abundant resources and capabilities, Pakistan is destined to secure its rightful place in the global community.
Earlier in the day, upon his arrival, the COAS was welcomed by the Corps Commander Karachi.
