President Zardari Voices Alarm Over Groundless Accusations Against Army During COAS Meeting

ISLAMABAD: In a significant gathering convened at the presidential residence in Islamabad on Wednesday, President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir delved into crucial matters confronting Pakistan, spanning from national security concerns to developmental endeavors.

The session highlighted the cohesive stance between the civilian administration and the military in tackling adversities and advancing the nation’s interests.A pivotal aspect of the discussion centered on President Zardari’s expression of deep apprehension regarding unfounded and unverified accusations leveled by a specific political faction and its select members against the armed forces and its leadership, as per a statement issued by the presidency.

Zardari, refraining from explicitly naming Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stressed the imperative of addressing such disruptive elements with resolute determination, signaling a firm commitment to safeguarding the dignity and credibility of the armed forces.

In the course of the dialogue, Gen Munir provided President Zardari with an overview of the ongoing military operations against terrorism and underscored the army’s preparedness against conventional threats.

Additionally, the army chief extended felicitations to Zardari on assuming the role of President of Pakistan and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, conveying heartfelt wishes for a fruitful tenure.

Moreover, the COAS delineated the army’s contributions to developmental endeavors, particularly in the regions of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. President Zardari duly acknowledged the pivotal role played by the armed forces in safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan, lauding their endeavors towards societal uplift in affected areas.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment against terrorism, the president reiterated the nation’s resolve to respond with full vigor through all facets of national prowess. He underscored the significance of unity in confronting shared challenges and fostering national advancement.

In the course of the meeting, President Zardari paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation, emphasizing their enduring legacy of fortitude and resilience.

He reiterated the nation’s steadfast commitment to honoring the sacrifices of the Shuhadas and their families, holding them in the highest regard.The gathering culminated with a reiteration of solidarity and resolve to uphold the principles of peace, security, and progress in Pakistan.
