TS EXCLUSIVE: Iqra Talib accuses Shahid Khalil of harassment at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Shahid Khalil, Secretary General of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), is facing serious allegations of harassment and abuse of power by Iqra Talib, a long-serving employee of the Chamber. Talib, a widow and mother of two, has accused Khalil of creating a hostile work environment, using coercion, and isolating her professionally after she resisted his advances.

In her official complaint to the Chamber President, Talib demanded Khalil’s immediate removal from his position, citing his alleged misconduct and its impact on workplace safety. “This institution must act decisively to remove him. He has turned this workplace into an unsafe environment, and no employee should have to endure this,” she wrote.

Talib also detailed her request for two years of unpaid leave, explaining that Khalil is due to retire after this period. “I cannot continue working under his shadow. I request leave until his retirement to safeguard my dignity and mental well-being,” she added.

Supporting Talib’s claims, other female employees anonymously told The Scoop about similar experiences of harassment by Khalil. One said, “He preys on women who are financially vulnerable and ensures their silence through threats of job termination.”

Khalil, however, has categorically denied all allegations. Speaking exclusively to The Scoop, he termed the claims as “baseless rumours.” “I have never harassed her or anyone else. She was never even part of my department. If she has any evidence, she must bring it forward,” he stated. Khalil further insisted that the allegations are an attempt to tarnish his reputation.

Despite these denials, the allegations have sent shockwaves through the LCCI, leading to calls for an independent investigation. However, Mian Abuzar, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, could not be reached for comment on the matter.

As the scandal unfolds, the pressure mounts on the LCCI to address the allegations, ensure a fair inquiry, and take decisive action to restore confidence among its workforce. The Scoop will continue to provide updates on this developing story.
