Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants Issued for Aleema Khan for Fifth Time

RAWALPINDI – The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has once again issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleema Khan, marking the fifth such order after her continued absence from court proceedings.

ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah heard the case pertaining to the 26 November protest, in which Aleema Khan and 10 other PTI activists have been nominated. Despite the previous warrants and repeated summons, Aleema Khan failed to appear before the court once again.

During the hearing, five prosecution witnesses and ten co-accused were present in court, while Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah appeared along with his legal team. However, no counsel appeared on behalf of Aleema Khan. Taking serious notice of her persistent absence, the judge reissued non-bailable warrants for the fifth time and adjourned further proceedings until 30 October.

It is pertinent to mention that the court has already ordered the blocking of Aleema Khan’s national identity card, passport, and bank accounts, while reports from NADRA, the Passport and Immigration Department, and the State Bank of Pakistan have been sought regarding the implementation of these directives.
