Mohsin Naqvi’s Diplomatic Efforts Lead To Repatriation Of 43 Pakistani Prisoners

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has successfully secured the return of 43 Pakistani prisoners held in Sri Lanka.

Minister Naqvi met with Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner, Admiral (Retd.) Ravindra Chandra Sri Wijegunaratne. During the meeting, they agreed on the immediate repatriation of the Pakistani citizens detained in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan High Commissioner assured full cooperation in this matter.

Naqvi expressed his gratitude to the High Commissioner for his support in facilitating the prisoners’ return.

“Arrangements for the repatriation of the Pakistani prisoners will be finalized within a few days,” stated Naqvi. The Ministry of Interior has been working with Sri Lankan authorities over the past month to ensure the safe return of these individuals.

Naqvi highlighted the strengthening relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan over the past seven decades and emphasised Pakistan’s desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Both parties agreed on immediate measures for the repatriation of prisoners from both countries. They also discussed matters of mutual interest and ways to enhance bilateral relations, including cooperation in security and counter-narcotics efforts.

Minister Naqvi welcomed the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the Ministry of Interior. Federal Secretary of Interior Khurram Ali Agha, NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afzal, and other relevant officials, along with officials from the Sri Lankan High Commission, were present at the occasion.
