LAHORE: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore Rafia Haider conducted inspections of cattle markets in the city on Sunday in preparation for Eid-ul-Azha. The officials visited Shahpur Kanjran, Pine Avenue, and Raiwind Road cattle markets to review the arrangements and ensure smooth operations.

During the visit, SP Saddar Shehzad Khan briefed the officers on the traffic management plans. CTO Amara Athar informed DC Lahore that a comprehensive traffic plan has been devised to facilitate citizens and avoid inconvenience. She emphasized that wrong parking is a major cause of traffic congestion in cattle markets, and measures are in place to prevent the parking of animals or vehicles on main roads to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

Amara Athar further explained that significant arrangements are being made by the district administration and Lahore Traffic Police for Eid-ul-Azha. She stated that legal action will be taken against those setting up illegal cattle markets across the city. More than 10 official cattle markets have been established at various locations in Lahore.

To ensure foolproof arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha, CTO Amara Athar informed that 13 DSPs, 60 inspectors, and 254 wardens will be deployed under the supervision of divisional officers. Additionally, 16 forklifts will be available to address wrong parking and encroachments. She assured that citizens will not face any difficulties accessing the cattle markets.

Amara Athar also mentioned that all circle officers have been instructed to visit the markets, and wardens have been directed to keep a vigilant eye on fraudsters, suspicious individuals, and unattended items.
