IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar Commended As Over 1.9 Million Citizens Benefit From Digital Services At Khidmat Marakaz In 2024

LAHORE: Under the guidance of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, the Punjab Police Khidmat Marakaz have provided crucial digital services to more than 1.9 million citizens this year. These state-of-the-art centres, spread across the province, have been instrumental in delivering over a dozen essential policing services, reflecting a progressive approach towards public service delivery.

This year, over 536,000 citizens obtained character certificates, whilst more than 858,000 underwent general police verification. Additionally, 4,207 private employees were verified by the police, and over 144,000 tenancy registrations were completed. Vehicle verification services were provided to more than 20,000 individuals, and 122,000 citizens received medico-legal certificates.

Other notable services include the reporting of lost documents (over 60,000 cases) and crime report registrations (4,397 cases). More than 83,000 individuals obtained copies of FIRs, whilst 192 reports of violence against women were registered. Furthermore, in efforts to support vulnerable groups, legal and social assistance was extended to over 71,000 people. Meanwhile, 1,293 citizens registered for employment under the ROPE (Registration of Private Employment) initiative.

IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar praised the performance of the Khidmat Marakaz, highlighting it as an exemplary public service project. He emphasised that the centres’ services would continue to improve, incorporating feedback from the public. Over 100 service centres are currently operational across the province, providing access to 14 different services, including the renewal of driving licences.
