LAHORE: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) SSP Amara Athar has spearheaded efforts to maintain smooth traffic flow around hospitals in Lahore, personally visiting key locations to assess the situation.

During her visit, CTO Amara Athar inspected traffic conditions around Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and extended her review to other critical areas, including Qadri Chowk, Safanwala Chowk, Waris Road, and Mozang.

She also visited the anti-encroachment camp at Qurtaba Chowk, taking steps to tackle illegal parking and encroachments. Amara Athar was briefed by the Circle Officer of Ichhra regarding traffic congestion points and ongoing issues in the area.

In response, the CTO immediately ordered the removal of illegal parking spots and rickshaw stands outside the hospital. She further directed the removal of street vendors and other encroachments near the hospital walls.

CTO SSP Amara Athar stressed the importance of keeping all emergency routes clear at all times. “Emergency gates must remain accessible for ambulances and emergency vehicles without any hindrance,” she instructed.

The CTO directed the Circle Officer to meet with the Medical Superintendent and security officer of the hospital to ensure coordination in resolving traffic issues.

Additionally, CTO Amara Athar instructed all divisional and circle officers to regularly inspect traffic arrangements outside hospitals and work closely with hospital administrations to address any concerns.

“Ambulances should be given priority as soon as sirens are heard, and the next junction must be alerted immediately about their approach,” she emphasised.
