LAHORE: In a recent comprehensive two-hour visit to Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Aviation and Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif expressed dissatisfaction with the current passenger facilities.

During their inspection, the ministers highlighted several areas needing urgent improvement to ease passenger flows and enhance overall service quality. They ordered immediate steps to increase the number of immigration counters and expedite the search process for outbound passengers.

Minister Naqvi specifically directed a rapid resolution of immigration issues and an increase in facilities to reduce passenger waiting times. He has ordered that the number of immigration counters at the departure and arrival terminals be increased immediately to alleviate passenger inconvenience.

The ministers also observed the operations of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Airport Security Force (ASF), and Customs, calling for a simplified and faster search process. They demanded a feasible plan to streamline search procedures within the next 24 hours, emphasising the need for immediate implementation by relevant authorities.

Khawaja Asif stated that after successful improvements at Lahore Airport, similar processes will be initiated at other airports. He stressed the importance of easing passenger movement and the prompt action required by associated agencies.

High-ranking officials from the Civil Aviation Authority, ANF, FIA, ASF, Customs, and Allama Iqbal International Airport’s administration attended a meeting under the ministers’ chairmanship, where they were briefed on the necessary measures to enhance passenger convenience.

The federal ministers’ visit marks a significant step towards addressing the critical needs of travellers and improving the operational standards at one of Pakistan’s major international gateways.
