LHC Grants Sanam Javed To Contest Senate Elections Amid Tayyaba Raja’s Criticism

The Appellate Tribunal of Lahore High Court (LHC) has granted Sanam Javed’s appeal, allowing her to participate in the Senate elections after her nomination papers were initially rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

LHC Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan delivered the reserved verdict, overturning the ECP’s decision. This development follows criticism from one of her closest friends Tayyaba Raja, a notable figure within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, who denounced PTI’s selection of Sanam Javed as a Senate candidate.

Ms. Raja expressed her concerns on social media, emphasizing the unfairness of favoring one individual while disregarding the contributions of others. She also questioned the legitimacy of the repeated bail granted to Sanam Javed by the anti-terrorism court, raising doubts about the integrity of the process.

She voiced dissatisfaction over the repeated bail granted to Javed by the anti-terrorism court, casting doubt on the fairness of the judicial process. Raja highlighted Javed’s multiple arrests and subsequent bail, contrasting it with the arduous legal battles faced by individuals like Aliya Hamza and Khadija Shah, whose bail was granted after significant struggle in Lahore High Court.

She questioned the consistency of bail rulings from the ATC, considering its stringent criteria. Raja also pointed out the lack of media attention to the challenges faced by many women within the party. She urged patience, suggesting that these concerns will be addressed once Imran Khan returns, implying a unified voice within the party.
