ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater of Qatar emphasised the strong and fraternal ties between Qatar and Pakistan, underscoring the importance his country places on these relations. He expressed Qatar’s keen interest in further enhancing economic and trade ties for mutual benefit.

Speaking to a delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), led by its President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, the Ambassador encouraged ICCI to propose ideas to boost business collaboration, which would be shared with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry for swift implementation.

Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari acknowledged the potential for even stronger bilateral relations, particularly in trade, investment, and economic sectors. He expressed hope that Ambassador Al-Khater’s tenure would strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two nations. Bakhtawari also noted the positive impact of Qatar Airways’ new direct flights from Islamabad to Malaysia and Indonesia on regional connectivity.

ICCI Group Leader Khalid Iqbal Malik highlighted the timeliness for enhancing Pakistan-Qatar business-to-business ties, while Secretary General of the United Business Group, Zafar Bakhtawari, praised Qatar’s elevated global stature following the FIFA World Cup and its efforts in resolving the Palestine issue. ICCI executive member Fasihullah Khan also attended the meeting.
