PTI Gives 'Shut Up Call' To Sher Afzal Marwat

In a dramatic turn of events, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a stern directive, signaling a clear “shut up” call to senior leader Sher Afzal Marwat. The party’s move comes amidst an evident internal rift, as Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Sher Afzal Marwat held conflicting press conferences at the party’s central secretariat. This rift reflects a glaring inconsistency in the party’s positions on crucial matters.

The issued notification, signed by PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, explicitly lists individuals authorized to make policy statements and represent the party. Notably, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan tops the list, reinforcing his exclusive role as the spokesperson for PTI. The notification underscores the party’s attempt to streamline communication and maintain a united front, excluding any unauthorized individuals from making public statements on behalf of PTI.

PTI Internal Rift Evident as Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Sher Afzal Marwat Express Discordant Views
A palpable discord within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came to light on Thursday as Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and senior leader Sher Afzal Marwat held separate press conferences at the party’s central secretariat, presenting conflicting stances on various issues.

The situation took an interesting turn when Marwat arrived to address the media immediately after Gohar’s press conference. Despite Gohar’s initial attempt to prevent Marwat from holding the press conference, Marwat proceeded with his statements. Gohar asserted during his press conference that PTI founder Imran Khan had never expressed a lack of trust in Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

However, Marwat contradicted this claim, stating that Imran Khan indeed lacked confidence in Chief Justice Isa. Marwat emphasized that he was following the instructions of the PTI founder in making these statements.

Gohar, in his address, alleged that efforts were being made to sideline PTI from the electoral arena through coercion under the so-called ‘London Plan’. He pointed to the rejection of nomination papers for 873 PTI candidates as evidence. Gohar criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), claiming bias and asserting that the rejection of papers, including those of the entire PTI cabinet, was based on “technical and flimsy” grounds.

According to Gohar, the rejected papers accounted for around 125 million people, and more than 90% of the rejected papers were PTI candidates. He insisted that the PTI founder had complete trust in the judiciary and expressed confidence that the top court would swiftly intervene to restore the party’s iconic ‘bat’ symbol.

Despite the internal strife, Gohar emphasized that PTI would persist in the process of ticket distribution, irrespective of the election symbol, and affirmed that candidates would be fielded in all constituencies. He concluded by expressing a preference for candidates to contest elections under the party symbol of the ‘bat’ rather than independently.
