ISLAMABAD: In a stern message to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a clear warning today, stating that any attempt to storm Islamabad would be met with serious consequences. With the Malaysian Prime Minister currently visiting Pakistan, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit underway, the government has made it clear that no disruption will be tolerated.
Speaking at a press conference, Naqvi stressed the importance of protecting Pakistan’s international image during this sensitive time. “It’s unacceptable to threaten the capital with chaos while the Prime Minister of Malaysia is in the country. PTI must reconsider their protest plans, or they will have to answer for their actions,” he warned.
The minister underscored that security protocols are fully in place to ensure the safety of the Malaysian Prime Minister. “We will not allow any gathering that compromises the security of a visiting head of state. PTI’s actions are not in the national interest,” Naqvi remarked, drawing attention to the negative impact of a past incident involving the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Lahore.
Security has been tightened across Islamabad, with both police and army personnel deployed to ensure the safety of international delegations, including an upcoming Saudi delegation. Naqvi warned that anyone who attempts to breach D-Chowk would face immediate action.
Addressing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister directly, Naqvi made it clear that any attempt to protest will be met with the full force of the law. “We have prepared for any protest scenario. If PTI proceeds, they should not expect any leniency. Our plans are set until 17 October,” he added, advising PTI workers to reconsider their actions.
The government also received a formal request from Maulana Fazlur Rehman, urging PTI to postpone their protest. However, the state remains resolute, ready to deal with any threats to peace and security in the capital.
The warning comes at a time when Islamabad is hosting critical diplomatic engagements, and the government is determined to prevent any actions that could tarnish Pakistan’s global standing.
