LAHORE: In a tragic incident near the Muslim Town underpass in Lahore, Muhammad Javed Butt, the brother-in-law of Khawaja Tareef, also known as Teefi Butt, a prime suspect in the Amir Balaj murder case, was shot dead on Sunday night. Javed Butt died instantly, while his wife sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, their daughter, who was also in the car during the attack, was unharmed.

The shooting took place within the jurisdiction of Achhra Police Station. SP Model Town, Ikhlaq Ullah Tarar, along with a significant police presence, arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. Authorities are now probing possible motives behind the attack.

This incident adds further complexity to the ongoing investigation into the Amir Balaj murder case, with Teefi Butt still the main suspect. Previously, Ameer Balaj Tipu was killed at a wedding in a housing society by Muzaffar Hussain, an old gunman of Khawaja Tareef, over a 30-year-old feud. Muzaffar was shot dead immediately after Tipu’s murder.

Investigations have revealed that Ahsan, a close friend of the deceased, provided crucial information to the attackers, enabling the murder. In a related development, an audio recording emerged of Ahsan Shah plotting to kill a police officer while he was in jail. The recording indicated his plan to flee the country after dealing with the officer.

The Lahore Organised Crime Unit, headed by DSP Muhammad Ali Butt and DIG Imran Kishwar, is leading the investigation. Authorities are also seeking red warrants for the arrest of the primary suspects, Khawaja Tareef (Teefi Butt) and Khawaja Aqeel (Gogi Butt), who have been declared proclaimed offenders.
