LAHORE: In a crucial meeting held at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headquarters in Gaddafi Stadium, an in-depth review of the stadium upgrade plans was conducted under the leadership of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Chairman Naqvi directed the swift engagement of international consultants for upgrading Gaddafi Stadium, National Bank Stadium in Karachi, and Rawalpindi Stadium. He highlighted that the upgrade projects for these venues had already faced delays and stressed the importance of moving forward without further delay.
To ensure efficient progress, Chairman Naqvi has established a three-member committee, which includes the directors of infrastructure, domestic cricket, and international cricket. The committee is tasked with ensuring the hiring process of international consultants adheres to regulations and that these stadiums are equipped with world-class facilities as per the consultants’ advice.
The upgrade plan includes structural modifications to the boxes and enhancements to the facilities. Seats will be installed in the enclosures, and each seat will be numbered to improve the spectator experience. Additionally, the number of seats in the enclosures on either side of the main gate at Gaddafi Stadium will be increased.
Naqvi also instructed updates to the scoreboards and live-stream screens across the stadiums and called for an estimation of the costs to replace the floodlights, ensuring that the stadiums meet international standards for hosting cricket matches.
The meeting was attended by PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer, the Chief Financial Officer, and directors of domestic and international cricket, along with the director of infrastructure.
