ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari delivered a firm message during his speech at the Pakistan Day Military Parade held at Shakarparian Parade ground in Islamabad on Saturday, reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to protecting its sovereignty. He emphasized Pakistan’s stance on fostering friendly relations with neighboring countries, asserting that Pakistan is a peace-loving nation and a responsible nuclear state. However, he underscored that Pakistan remains prepared to defend itself against any aggression, with both the nation and its armed forces standing ready to counter any threat to its security.

The president condemned all efforts by terrorist groups to destabilize Pakistan, emphasizing that the parade serves as a poignant reminder of the nation’s unity, strength, and pride. He highlighted Pakistan’s significant contributions and sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism, urging the international community to acknowledge these efforts.

President Zardari also addressed the longstanding issue of Indian illegal occupation in Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as a primary destabilizing factor in the region. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, calling for the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions to address the situation.

Recognizing the challenges faced by Pakistan, President Zardari emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing them, highlighting the role of the democratic government and the shared responsibility of all citizens. He expressed confidence in the country’s youth and announced initiatives, such as the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, aimed at boosting the economy through foreign investments in various sectors.

Furthermore, President Zardari urged all political parties to prioritize national interests over partisan agendas, stressing the need for unity in ensuring the country’s security and prosperity.

In a display of solidarity with the Palestinian people, President Zardari called on the international community to intervene to stop the ongoing violence and loss of innocent lives in Palestine. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause until a resolution is reached in accordance with their aspirations.
