LAHORE; Relatives of former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa have failed to appear for an inquiry in Lahore regarding allegations of money laundering and the acquisition of illegal assets.

Sabir Hamid Mithu, the father-in-law of the former army chief’s son, along with Chaudhry Ashraf Gharki and Hammad Mushtaq, were summoned to appear before the Anti-Corruption Establishment’s office on June 26. The FIA Anti-Corruption Cell had issued notices to all three individuals on charges of money laundering and illegal asset acquisition.

According to sources, if the individuals do not appear today, they will receive two additional notices at intervals of three days. If they still fail to appear, another case could be filed against them, sources added. The FIA and Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab had issued call-up notices to Sabir Hameed, alias Sabir Mithu, and his two associates for allegedly acquiring illegal assets.

The FIA has also summoned Sabir and Ashraf on June 27, and Hammad Mushtaq on June 28.
